Across the road is The Reserve Restaurant, within waling distance for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  Lovely setting along the Sabie River.

WALKING, BIRDING & GOLF
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Adventuring is right next door at Induna Adventures.  There are panoramic trips to God’s Window, Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Waterfalls, Pilgrim’s Rest and Graskop.  Elephant encounters, Sky-trailing at SkyWayTrails and scenic flights or hot-air ballooning  are all available close by. And of course the Kruger National Park is only 22 kms away.

A little further out but still within an easy day-trip’s reach, there is candlelight caving in Sabie, the Sudwala Caves and Dinosaur Park, Chimp Eden and the Hoedspruit Cheetah Centre as well as the famous Moholoholo Rescue Centre.

ADVENTURING

Head off to the Kruger National Park for the day with your picnic or bush breakfast – only 22Kms to Phabeni Gate. Self-drive or open vehicle safaris are also available through local tour operators.

How about a walk or quad bike ride up to Mac-Mac Falls?

Or a day in Pilgrim’s Rest?

Or for the Twitchers among you, just head off into the gardens or down to the river for some peaceful bird-spotting.

Waking up on a summer’s morning the calls of Sunbirds remind you that you are in a birder’s paradise.

Long Crested Eagles, Fish Eagles, Crowned Eagles, African Harrier Hawks (Gymnogene) and all manner of Kingfishers can be spotted. Purple Crested Turaco and Coucal vie with Black Headed Oriels for Canopy space and little White-Eyes dart around in the bushes. If you are lucky you may even spot a Narina Trogon!  The one on this website was photographed by Auriol at the gate.

There are some of South-Africa’s prettiest golf courses in the area – Sabi River Sun, Kruger Park Lodge, Skukuza and Pilgrim’s Rest to name just a few.

The Gardens

The gardens offer a huge variety of natural fauna and flora for those days where you just don't want to go out.

The dam has fish, frogs and crabs that attract Herons, Cormorants, African Black Ducks, Kingfishers, Geese, Fish Eagles and many more.  African Harrier Hawk (Gymnogene) - Long-crested Eagles and other Sparrowhawks have also been spotted.

Wildlife that has been spotted from the deck includes: Red Duiker, Bushbuck, Thick-tailed Bushabies, Slender and Banded Mongoose, Leguaans, Porcupine, Water Mongoose, Cape Clawless Otter, and the spoor of Genets and Civets.

There is also amazing insect life: lovely large moths and butterflies, and some that defy description with amazing variety and beauty.

So take a quiet stroll to the river and let the peace of the glen infuse your soul.  Or sit quietly at night to see what crosses your path.
